The 2010 Winter Olympics may be over, but, starting tomorrow, Vancouverians will have another chance to proudly wear the red and white team Canada colours . Starting from tomorrow till March 21st, the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games will feature athletes and officials from 43 countries, competing in 64 medal events in Vancouver and Whistler. The Gastown Blog team went out to the streets, asking people what game(s) they’re looking forward to watch!
At the height of the Olympic hype, Gastown’s own Canvas Lounge transformed into a high-energy Ultra Lounge. Local, national, and international media personnel came to party where many of the medal bearing athletes celebrated. Canadian gold medalists Jon Montgomery, Ashleigh McIvor, and Alexandre Bilodeau among many others were spotted. Check out the awesome videos below.
The Ronnie Hayward Trio performs at The Revel Room in Gastown! Starting at 9pm tonight, Revel will be featuring Authentic original Roots Music & Blues by Ronnie Hayward (stand-up bass & vocals), Steve Kozak (guitar and vocals) and Steve Taylor on drums.

If you haven’t noticed yet, there are a number of free pavilions and hospitality houses set-up around Vancouver during the Winter Olympics. It’s pretty cool since you get to enjoy live performances, sample regional cuisine and much more all for free! Canada’s Northern House is just one of those many exciting venues.The Gastown Blog caught up with the people from Canada’s Northern House as they were showing off their Arctic Sports in front of Hill’s Native Art.
Ok, secret’s out: Vancouver is kind of awesome. Despite what grumpy Brits are saying, Vancouver has made an impression in its world-stage debut. Stephen Colbert has been so moved by our hospitality that he has taken back all of the trash talk he’s been dishing our way for the past few months. And The New York Times (The New York Times) has said that “Vancouver is Manhattan with mountains”. Vancouver, it seems, has arrived.
All of this is great, except for the fact that it’s kind of redundant. I wholeheartedly agree with Pete McMartin’s take on our fair city:
