In search of a good après-11pm dinner last night, some friends and I decided to stop by the Revel Room to sample their brand new menu and sip on some delicious cocktails. Located at 238 Abbott Street in the heart of Gastown, Revel is a definite favourite amongst the community and a wonderful throwback to entertainment and dining. Tuesdays now feature live blues and funk from the Steve Kozak Trio.

With very few places in Gastown offering Chinese fare, Terracotta is a much-welcomed addition to the neighborhood. Located at 52 Alexander Street, the sleek, cozy resto-lounge is inspired by the ancient and mythical Terracotta Warriors of China’s Qin Dynasty. Discover the three levels of food, drink and entertainment at Terracotta’s Lounge & Patio, Dining Room and The Emperor’s Room.
The erection of the huge Woodwards building brought forth a wave of concern for independent businesses, namely that the big boys will trickle in with cookie cutter chain restaurants and shops. After all, much of Gastown’s charm is sown by creative, local, independent business owners with a dream and some guts.
Cheer on the Canucks this playoff season at one of Gastown’s best spots to watch a hockey game. The “Lamp” is an institution, housed in the historic Dominion Grand Hotel (est. 1899) and remains one of the busiest pubs in the neighborhood. Intact are the original tin stamped ceilings, exposed brick walls, stained glass windows and railings. The rest of this storied room was given a grand renovation in 2007 with flat screen TV’s, a roaring new sound system and a new patio.
